Position Overview:
We are seeking an Environmental Manager to join our esteemed Energy team, focusing on the SSE ASTI Framework in Scotland, which encompasses Power, Transmission, and Distribution projects.
Our team is recognized for its in-depth in-house expertise and relentless pursuit of innovation within the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership in environmental and sustainability best practices in collaboration with the SHESQ function.
- Ensure all personnel are informed of their statutory duties and responsibilities, offering guidance as needed.
- Collaborate with site management teams to guarantee compliance with environmental and sustainability plans.
- Lead and oversee accident and incident investigations, analyzing data to recommend measures to prevent recurrence.
- Review environmental and sustainability statistics to identify trends and areas for enhancement.
- Develop and implement environmental and sustainability initiatives in partnership with the Operations Director and SHES Director.
- Prepare and review environmental and sustainability documentation, including third-party submissions.
- Produce comprehensive environmental and sustainability plans, procedures, and related documentation, ensuring compliance.
- Identify significant environmental and sustainability challenges and establish appropriate controls.
- Manage the acquisition of necessary environmental and sustainability consents, permits, or exemptions.
- Provide reports and presentations as directed by the Business or SHESQ function.
- Contribute to pre-qualification, tender, and environmental and sustainability award submissions.
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will possess a Chartered IEMA qualification and have a solid understanding of practical environmental risk mitigation on significant construction projects, including:
- Waste management
- Water management and pollution prevention
- Statutory nuisance
- Contaminated land
- Ecological mitigation
- Consents, licensing, and DCO experience
- Biodiversity Net Gain
Additionally, a strong grasp of Net Zero principles and experience in carbon measurement and reduction strategies is essential, along with expertise in environmental incident management and investigation.
