Position Overview

We are pleased to announce an opportunity for an Environmental Sustainability Trainee to join our dedicated team for a summer internship. This role will be conducted in a hybrid format, with a requirement to be on-site a few days each week.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for providing extensive administrative and clerical assistance to the sustainability and environmental performance division. Candidates should be pursuing or have completed a relevant undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in environmental management or sustainability. Membership in a pertinent professional organization (such as CIWEM or IEMA) is also expected.

This position offers a chance to gain hands-on experience in various aspects related to sustainability and climate change initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Enrollment in or completion of a relevant undergraduate degree in environmental management or sustainability.
  • Active student membership in a recognized professional body (CIWEM, IEMA).
  • A self-driven, organized, and detail-oriented approach with the ability to demonstrate initiative in completing tasks to high standards.
  • Knowledge and understanding of environmental management and waste management issues.
  • Previous work experience that reflects the ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of handling inquiries professionally.
  • High levels of assertiveness, resourcefulness, and initiative.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and similar applications.
  • A flexible approach to work responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Scottish Pollution Prevention and Waste Legislation.
  • A valid UK/EU/EEA driving license.

Employment Details

  • Fixed Term: 16 weeks
  • Full-time: 37 hours per week

Additional Information

This is a fixed-term position for a duration of 16 weeks. If you are an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire and wish to apply, please ensure you have obtained prior written consent from your line manager.

Work Environment

The role will be situated within the Planning, Property & Performance division.
