Senior Claims Manager – Political Risk and Crisis Management

As a Senior Claims Manager specializing in Political Risk and Crisis Management, you will lead a diverse and inclusive claims team composed of skilled professionals.
In this role, you will represent AXA XL at industry events and market meetings, acting as a key ambassador for the company. Your expertise and experience will be invaluable in supporting broker and client engagement throughout the claims process and in assisting underwriters with business development initiatives.
You will mentor and guide your team in managing significant and complex claims. Ensuring adherence to service metrics, you will demonstrate a commitment to delivering superior service to our customers. Additionally, you will provide valuable portfolio and industry insights to both internal and external stakeholders, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Your essential responsibilities will include:
· Overseeing the technical management of Political Risk claims and supervising Crisis Management claims.
· Collaborating with the broader Specialty Claims Leadership team to achieve key priorities aligned with the UK & Lloyd's strategy.
· Managing resource allocation and workload distribution within your team.
· Monitoring the performance of your direct reports, setting SMART objectives, conducting performance reviews, and supporting colleagues in their career aspirations.
· Ensuring operational effectiveness and compliance with key performance indicators and operational controls.
· Managing a portfolio of claims in accordance with your established authority and the Claims Handler Guidelines.
· Providing oversight and direction to the team regarding coverage analysis, investigation, defense, evaluation, reserving, and resolution of specific claims.
· Ensuring appropriate governance over large losses and liaising with the Global Practice Leader and actuarial teams.
· Serving as the primary contact for Political Risk and Crisis Management underwriting, actuarial teams, and key stakeholders concerning claims trends, insights, lessons learned, marketing, and business development.
· Supporting the development and execution of the broker and client engagement strategy for Political Risk and Crisis Management claims.
· Representing AXA XL at market committees and large loss market meetings.
This position reports to the Head of Specialty, Marine, Energy & Aerospace.
Required Skills and Qualifications
We are seeking candidates with the following skills and qualifications:
· Advanced expertise in Political Risk and Crisis Management claims.
· Proven experience in managing large and complex losses, providing support to underwriters, and effectively discussing claims issues directly with clients.
· Commitment to delivering prompt, fair, innovative, and accurate claims services that strengthen broker and client relationships.
· Strong leadership and people management skills.
· Familiarity with both Lloyd's and Company Market systems and protocols.
· A mindset focused on continuous improvement with the ability to implement actionable plans.
