Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Acute Medicine Specialist to join our team at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant in Acute Medicine, you will play a key role in providing clinical leadership and expertise in the management of acute medical patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality clinical care to patients with acute medical conditions, including those requiring admission to the Acute Medical Unit.
  • Lead and manage the Acute Medical Take, ensuring effective referral and management of patients.
  • Develop and implement service improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care pathways and effective communication.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical governance and audit initiatives.
  • Participate in research and quality improvement projects to advance the field of Acute Medicine.
  • Supervise and mentor junior doctors and medical students, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
Requirements
  • Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Eligibility for specialist registration within six months of interview.
  • Higher academic qualification (e.g., MD, PhD) or equivalent.
  • Experience in acute medicine, with a strong track record of clinical leadership and service improvement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and prioritize tasks effectively.
