About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Academic Learning Support Assistant to join our Student Support and Engagement Team. As a key member of the team, you will provide a high-quality, proactive learning support service for students with special educational needs and disabilities.

You will work closely with curriculum teams to ensure that all learners receiving support have the opportunities to achieve and exceed their potential, develop independence skills, and have equal opportunities to progress into further study, employment, and/or positive community engagement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing practical access, simple adaptations, and note-taking support to students
  • Keeping accurate records, monitoring, and tracking individual support details and progress
  • Attending to personal care needs, being involved in moving and handling, and the administration of medication (after receipt of the appropriate training)
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience, knowledge, and understanding of barriers and issues faced by students with special educational needs and disabilities, together with strategies to overcome these
  • Experience of working in an education or care setting with young people with learning difficulties, disabilities, and complex and physical needs (an advantage)
