Job Title: Academic Learning Support Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Academic Learning Support Assistant to join our Student Support and Engagement Team at Blackburn College.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to work with students who have special educational needs and disabilities, providing a high-quality learning support service that enables them to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support to students with special educational needs and disabilities, including practical access, simple adaptations, and note-taking.
  • Work collaboratively with curriculum teams to ensure that all learners receiving support have equal opportunities to progress and achieve their goals.
  • Keep accurate records and monitor individual support details and progress.
  • Attend to personal care needs, be involved in moving and handling, and administer medication after receiving appropriate training.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience of working with students with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of barriers and issues faced by students with special educational needs and disabilities, together with strategies to overcome these.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to providing high-quality support that promotes student independence and well-being.
