Academic Learning Support Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Academic Learning Support Assistant to join our Student Support and Engagement Team at Blackburn College.
The successful candidate will provide a high-quality, proactive learning support service for students with special educational needs and disabilities, working closely with curriculum teams to ensure all learners receive the support they need to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide practical access, simple adaptations, and note-taking support to students
- Keep accurate records and monitor individual support details and progress
- Attend to personal care needs, be involved in moving and handling, and administer medication after receiving appropriate training
- Work with students to develop independence skills and provide equal opportunities for progression
Requirements:
- Experience of working with students with special educational needs and disabilities
- Knowledge and understanding of barriers and issues faced by students with special educational needs and disabilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
