Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Academic Learning Support Assistant to join our Student Support and Engagement Team at Blackburn College. As a key member of our team, you will provide a high-quality, proactive learning support service for students with special educational needs and disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized support to students with special educational needs and disabilities, including practical access, simple adaptations, and note-taking.
  • Work collaboratively with curriculum teams to ensure that all learners receiving support have equal opportunities to progress and achieve their potential.
  • Keep accurate records and monitor individual support details and progress.
  • Attend to personal care needs, be involved in moving and handling, and administer medication after receiving appropriate training.

Requirements

  • Experience of working in an education or care setting with young people with learning difficulties, disabilities, and complex and physical needs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of barriers and issues faced by students with special educational needs and disabilities, together with strategies to overcome these.
