An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Placement Commissioning Team (PCT) for Children Services.

The role of the Placement Coordinator involves sourcing placements for children and young individuals, which may include foster care, residential care, special educational needs institutions, supported living arrangements, and respite care. The successful candidate will collaborate with social work colleagues, foster families, and external organizations to facilitate placements that align with the Care Planning standards for children.

This is a full-time position operating Monday to Friday. Starting in the afternoon, you will work closely with the Placement Commissioning Team to assist in identifying placements needed for that day. You will also take the initiative in sourcing placements outside of standard business hours, as well as addressing any urgent requests received during these times. Additionally, you will contribute to ongoing placement searches and have the opportunity to support foster families through welfare checks for those in emergency placements.

Your responsibilities will include utilizing both telephone and email communication for placement searches; performing related administrative tasks; gathering information from databases and online resources; participating in both in-person and virtual meetings; reviewing policies and documentation; and updating Team Managers on your progress.

This role is situated in a dynamic and occasionally high-pressure environment, and prior experience in a similar capacity is preferred. You will need to work effectively within a small team while demonstrating the ability to independently manage and oversee live placement search referrals from assigned Placement Officers. Strong time management and prioritization skills are essential, as is the capacity to meet deadlines.

This position is office-based, working alongside the Out of Hours Service.
