An exceptional opportunity has arisen to join the Placement Commissioning Team (PCT) within the Children Services sector.

The role of the Placement Coordinator involves sourcing suitable placements for children and young individuals, which may include foster care, residential care, special educational needs institutions, supported living arrangements, and respite care. Collaborating with a supportive team, the successful applicant will engage with our Social Work colleagues, foster carers, and external agencies to facilitate placements that align with the Care Planning needs of children in Hampshire.

This is a full-time position operating Monday to Friday. The working hours commence at 2pm, during which you will assist the Placement Commissioning Team in identifying placements required for the day. You will also take the initiative in securing placements outside of standard business hours, addressing emergency requests that arise during these times. Additionally, you will support ongoing placement searches and have the opportunity to conduct welfare checks for foster carers managing emergency placements.

Key responsibilities include utilizing both telephone and email communication for placement searches; performing related administrative tasks; gathering information from databases and online resources; participating in both in-person and virtual meetings; reviewing policies and documentation; and providing updates to Team Managers regarding your progress.

This role is situated in a dynamic and occasionally high-pressure environment, and prior experience in a similar capacity is advantageous. You will need to work collaboratively within a small team while demonstrating the ability to independently manage and oversee live placement search referrals from designated Placement Officers. Effective time management and prioritization skills are crucial, as is the capability to meet deadlines.

This is an office-based position where you will collaborate closely with the Out of Hours Service.
