Job Overview

We are seeking a Technical Lead to become an integral part of our Software Delivery division. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise to mentor a team of engineers while actively contributing to the team's output. The ideal individual will serve as a Technical Authority, playing a crucial role in strategic decision-making across various teams, ensuring that we deliver high-quality software solutions to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with fellow Technical Leaders to develop long-term strategies that enhance product quality, security, performance, observability, and maintainability across Group Technology development teams, ensuring optimal outcomes for our clients.
  • Acting as a Technical Authority within and across teams to efficiently resolve complex coding and engineering challenges, delivering lasting benefits to the organization and its customers.
  • Developing software that can be rapidly iterated upon, enabling the company to launch high-quality features to the market promptly. Ensuring that the solutions are fit for purpose, deliver appropriate business value, meet quality standards, and adhere to established engineering practices.
  • Coordinating and overseeing technical tasks across multiple development teams to minimize redundancy, enhance collaboration, and provide clear progress updates, facilitating smooth delivery of cross-functional concerns.
  • Continuously researching relevant technologies and identifying opportunities for their integration. Utilizing knowledge of technology options and surveying the external market landscape for insights, direction, and vendor solutions to keep our applications current, efficient, and valuable.
  • Conducting analysis of alternative technology solutions, assessing associated benefits, costs, and risks; performing gap analysis, and developing proof of concepts for new solutions.
  • Guiding and collaborating with the 'Developer Community' to establish software development standards that ensure compliance with security and audit requirements without hindering our development processes.

Qualifications:

  • Profound understanding of software testing frameworks and strategies is essential.
  • In-depth knowledge of CI/CD and related release strategies is crucial.
  • Extensive experience with Agile software development methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban, is required.
  • Familiarity with Microservices patterns and frameworks is advantageous.
  • Required technical expertise includes:
    • Application Server: Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS), Open Liberty
    • Transactional Database: Azure SQL Database
    • Core Programming Languages: Java 17, Python (desirable)
    • UI Technologies: Angular / CSS / Bootstrap / JSP / Servlets / JavaScript / jQuery
    • Frameworks: Spring Core, Spring MVC, Spring Cloud
    • Integration Platform: Azure API Management
    • Integration Protocols: HTTPS, SOAP, RESTful, IBM MQ, JDBC, CICS Transaction Gateway
    • Identity & Access Management: Tivoli Directory Server / LTPA / OAuth2 / ForgeRock
    • Batch Scheduler / Compute: Azure Functions
    • Source Code Management: Azure DevOps
    • Build / Deploy Scripts: Maven, Jython
    • CI / CD: Azure Pipelines
    • IDE: Eclipse
