Job Summary

This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a clinical research environment, developing leadership skills and progressing to a senior post within the Trust. The successful candidate will be trained to manage and assist the team with practical assessments, including questionnaires, vital signs, and sample collection. The post holder will be required to complete administrative duties, such as entering results on a computer-based data collection portal.

Main Responsibilities

The Cardiology Research Nurse will be responsible for:

  • Approaching patients to participate in studies
  • Managing and assisting the team with practical assessments
  • Completing administrative duties, including data entry
  • Working closely with the multi-disciplinary team to support a portfolio of non-complex clinical trials
About the Role

This is a fixed-term contract for up to 1 year, full-time. The work pattern will be Monday to Friday, with some evenings and occasional weekends to meet the requirements of various studies. The team comprises of experienced professionals, including a WTE Band 7, WTE Band 6 nurses, WTE Band 5 Trial coordinator, and 1 WTE Band 4 Trial coordinator.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Broad knowledge and experience of clinical practice within an acute hospital environment
  • Interest in clinical research
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and willingness to develop computer skills further
  • Knowledge of Data Protection Act 1984 and Caldicott principles
  • Good understanding of medical terminology
