GSL Education is on the lookout for a passionate and qualified SEN Teaching Assistant to join our client’s educational institution focused on special educational needs.

As a vital member of the educational team, the SEN Teaching Assistant will play a crucial role in fostering an inclusive and supportive atmosphere that enhances the learning experience for students with diverse needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to students with special educational needs and mental health challenges, collaborating closely with educators and specialists to implement personalized strategies.
  • Offer emotional guidance to students facing mental health issues, assisting them in managing their feelings, developing coping mechanisms, and fostering resilience.
  • Respond to students in crisis or emotional distress by providing immediate and effective support.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to improve skills and knowledge in supporting students with special educational needs and mental health issues.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience in a teaching assistant role within a secondary educational setting that supports students with special educational needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling the establishment of positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, and resilience when addressing the academic or behavioral challenges faced by students.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education, childcare, or a related discipline.

Note: This position necessitates a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection. Successful candidates must complete all necessary background checks, including an enhanced DBS check.
