About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant to join our team at Protocol Education. As a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with a range of additional needs, helping them access the curriculum and develop their social skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Individualized Support: Work one-on-one and in small groups with students to provide personalized assistance and support.
  • Implement Individual Education Plans: Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies tailored to each student's needs.
  • Collaborate with Teachers: Collaborate with teachers to adapt and differentiate lesson materials and activities to meet the needs of students with special educational needs.
  • Support Social and Emotional Development: Support students in developing their social, emotional, and communication skills.
  • Monitor Progress: Monitor and record students' progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Foster a Positive Environment: Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes social interaction and learning.
  • Assist with Personal Care: Assist with personal care and mobility needs, if required.
  • Participate in Training: Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Experience Working with Special Needs: Experience working with children with special educational needs, preferably in a school setting.
  • Understanding of Special Needs: Understanding of various special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Patience and Empathy: Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children's development.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team to achieve common goals.
  • Relevant Qualifications: Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
