Position Summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Service Charge Accountant within our dedicated service charge division. This role is pivotal in managing the service charge accounts, ensuring accurate preparation and finalization of reconciliations for certified service charge accounts, maintaining high standards of quality.

Primary Responsibilities


• Serve as the main contact for client inquiries, offering support and guidance as needed.

• Enter service charge budgets into accounting software.

• Generate service charge income and expenditure reports in preparation for year-end audits.

• Collaborate with external accountants to address any queries.

• Take responsibility for the timely completion of service charge accounts.

• Assist center managers, surveyors, and other departments in resolving issues.

• Execute journal entries, accruals, and prepayments.

• Conduct mid-year reviews in coordination with site teams and property managers.

• Perform monthly and quarterly budget versus actual reviews.

• Oversee cash balances and cash flow forecasts.

• Complete tenant recharges and ensure proper reconciliation.

• Reconcile year-end balancing charges and credits.

• Prepare statements of funds.

• Conduct balance sheet reviews and clear outstanding items.

• Reconcile VAT accounts.

• Manage service charge transitions following property sales and acquisitions.

Essential Skills


• Proven experience in service charge accounting.

• Familiarity with property management systems.

• Knowledge of NRLS/CIS and VAT regulations.

• Comprehensive understanding of trial balance reporting and balance sheet reconciliation.

• Adherence to RICS standards.

• Goal-oriented: committed to achieving challenging objectives consistently.

• Focus on continuous improvement: strives for efficiency alongside effectiveness.
