About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineering Buyer to join our team at Colas Rail. As an Engineering Buyer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the timely procurement of parts and services supporting our locomotive maintenance plans.

You will be responsible for interacting with various stakeholders, including Finance, Commercial, Production, Engineering, and Procurement, to maintain a good relationship with our suppliers while ensuring a price index. Your attention to detail and ability to think bigger picture will be essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Request quotations and raise requisitions for services and spares
  • Acknowledge and process the receipt of services (Goods Receipt Notes)
  • Update and maintain Purchase Order Numbers and Supplier Invoices
  • Manage invoice queries to completion
  • Provide support in budgeting, forecasting, and period-end reporting
  • Manage the repairable asset list in line with maintenance requirements
  • Raise work orders as required
  • Ensure timely procurement of parts and services
  • Scrutinise external contractors' work sheets and highlight uncertainties to the engineering team
  • Perform general administrative tasks
  • Maintain a good relationship with suppliers while maintaining a price index
  • Set up and manage stock balance loads to support the maintenance regime
  • Forecast future stock requirements
