About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Core IDVA (Independent Domestic Violence Advisor). As a Core IDVA, you will play a critical role in providing emotional and practical support to women and girls who have experienced domestic abuse.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality advocacy and support to women and girls who have experienced domestic abuse, focusing on those at high risk.
  • Work within a coordinated partnership response to violence against women and girls as part of the Angelou Partnership.
  • Advise women on criminal justice and civil remedies and related matters, support women to attend court where necessary, and coordinate the provision of multi-agency support.
  • Develop and implement effective safety plans and risk management strategies to ensure the safety and well-being of clients.
  • Collaborate with other agencies and professionals to provide a comprehensive and coordinated response to domestic abuse.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure the effective delivery of services.

Requirements:

  • Excellent understanding of domestic abuse and its effects on women and children.
  • Experience of direct work with female survivors of domestic abuse, supporting women involved in mental health services, and working within safeguarding procedures.
  • Strong partnership approach to service provision, with the ability to work collaboratively with other agencies and professionals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, crisis intervention environment, remaining calm and composed in challenging situations.
