Quality Assurance Inspector

Location: Hull

Key Responsibilities:

The role holder will be instrumental in achieving business objectives through the following activities:

General Quality Control Inspection includes but is not limited to:

  • Reviewing Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Plans, and associated QA & NDT documentation.
  • Interpreting codes, standards, and specifications to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborating with QA Manager, QC-Lead, and Project Leads regarding documentation submissions and QA project requirements.
  • Ensuring Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) are appropriate for the material type, thickness, and diameter.
  • Managing consumable control to guarantee the correct materials are used in accordance with applicable WPS.
  • Conducting weld fit-up inspections to verify preparation aligns with WPS requirements and isometric drawings.
  • Overseeing welder qualifications to ensure compliance and prolongation.
  • Performing cleanliness inspections to confirm work areas are free from debris and protected from environmental elements.
  • Ensuring material traceability by monitoring heat codes accurately.
  • Verifying material control to ensure alignment with isometric drawings.
  • Conducting visual inspections of welds and materials to identify defects.
  • Preventing cross-contamination between different material types.
  • Ensuring dimensional control to confirm fabrication matches isometric drawings.
  • Maintaining calibration control for machinery and measuring equipment.
  • Conducting parameter checks to ensure adherence to WPS specifications.
  • Performing line walks and construction inspections to verify installation accuracy.
  • Raising Continuous Improvement Forms (CIFs) as necessary and liaising with client QA/QC departments.
  • Maintaining all quality documentation and records within the Company's Combined Management System (CMS).
  • Supporting a robust workshop Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) culture.

Work Packs:

  • Ensuring all associated reports are complete with required signatures and stamps, reviewing for any blank fields.
  • Verifying dates are in the correct sequential order.
  • Checking revisions against established procedures.
  • Confirming FUDS are complete with no blanks and required signatures.
  • Ensuring SQEP personnel sign in the correct areas and understand inspection points.

Qualifications:

  • CSWIP Level 3.1 Welding Inspector or 3.2 Senior Welding Inspector certification.
  • PCN Level 2 – Radiographic Interpretation qualification.
  • Recognized Internal Auditor qualification.
  • ONC/HNC in Mechanical Engineering, BTEC, City & Guilds, or equivalent experience.
