Quality Assurance Inspector

Location: Hull

Our mission is to optimize asset performance, ensuring maximum availability while minimizing maintenance expenditures.

Key Responsibilities: The role holder will be tasked with fulfilling the business objectives through the following activities:

General Quality Control inspection includes but is not limited to:

  • Evaluating Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Plans, and relevant QA & NDT documentation.
  • Understanding the intent and confirming compliance with applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
  • Collaborating with the QA Manager, QC Lead, and Project Leaders regarding documentation submissions and QA project requirements.
  • Verifying WPS compliance (Ensuring the WPS aligns with the material type, thickness, and diameter).
  • Managing consumable inventory (Ensuring the appropriate consumables are used for the process, matching thickness to applicable WPSs, and overseeing consumable management at the work site).
  • Inspecting weld fit-up (Confirming that the preparation of the welding area adheres to WPS requirements and isometric drawings).
  • Assessing Welder Qualifications (Ensuring welders are certified for the tasks and maintaining their qualifications).
  • Conducting cleanliness inspections (Ensuring the welding area is free from debris and protected from environmental factors).
  • Monitoring Material Traceability (Ensuring accurate tracking of heat codes).
  • Overseeing Material Control (Confirming that materials correspond with isometric drawings).
  • Performing visual inspections of welds and materials (Identifying defects in materials and welds).
  • Ensuring Dimensional Control (Verifying that fabrication aligns with isometric drawings).
  • Managing Calibration Control (Ensuring all machinery, gauges, and measuring tools are calibrated and up to date).
  • Conducting Parameter Checks (Ensuring adherence to parameters outlined in the WPS).
  • Executing Line Walks/Construction Inspections (Confirming that installations match isometric drawings and that all markings are visible).
  • Submitting Continuous Improvement Forms (CIFs) as necessary and coordinating with Client QA/QC departments.
  • Promoting a robust workshop Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) culture.

Documentation Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring all associated reports are complete (Verifying that all required signatures are present and correctly stamped, reviewing for any blank fields, and applying N/A where applicable).
  • Maintaining dates in the correct sequential order.
  • Verifying revisions against established procedures.
  • Ensuring FUDS are accurate with no blanks (Confirming all required signatures are present and correctly stamped).
  • Ensuring SQEP personnel sign in the correct areas and understand inspection points.
  • Delivering results that meet client expectations.
  • Managing pressure and setbacks effectively.
  • Engaging in writing and reporting tasks.
  • Planning and organizing work efficiently.
  • Collaborating effectively with team members.
  • Applying expertise and knowledge in the field.

Required Qualifications:

  • CSWIP Level 3.1 Welding Inspector or 3.2 Senior Welding Inspector certification.
  • PCN Level 2 – Radiographic Interpretation certification.
  • Recognized Internal Auditor qualification.
  • ONC/HNC in Mechanical Engineering, BTEC, City & Guilds, or equivalent experience.
