About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior or Principal Flood Modeller/Hydrologist to join our Hydrological Sciences team at Stantec. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for working with clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders to deliver technical work and assist more junior staff in their projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage projects, including Flood Risk Assessments and Flood Modelling (fluvial, pluvial and tidal), outline Sustainable Drainage System (SuDS) design and/or detailed drainage design, hydraulic modelling (1D, 2D, and 1D-2D) of rivers, and Environmental Impact Assessments.
  • Collaborate with clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders to undertake site visits and deliver technical work.
  • Manage several projects simultaneously and be able to work independently, where required.
  • Develop fee proposals and assist more junior staff in their work.
Requirements
  • Strong experience in Hydraulic Modelling software (e.g Flood Modeller Pro, ISIS - Tuflow, Estry - Tuflow, WinDes and Microdrainage) with extensive knowledge of hydrological assessments and flow estimation or other flow calculation methods.
  • Experience with SuDS and surface/foul water drainage design alongside experience with hydrological EIA is also essential.
  • A degree in Environmental Science and a relevant master's degree through a separate or integrated course.
  • Chartered with a relevant professional institution or working towards obtaining chartership.
