About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Senior or Principal Hydrologist to join our team at Stantec. The role is based on a flexible and collaborative work environment, allowing you to work from various locations across the UK.

As a key member of our Hydrological Sciences team, you will be responsible for working with clients from various sectors, including the UK water industry, transport, energy infrastructure, minerals, and waste. Your primary duties will include developing fee proposals, setting up and managing projects, delivering technical work, and assisting junior staff.

Key responsibilities will involve Flood Risk Assessments and Flood Modelling, outline Sustainable Drainage System (SuDS) design, hydraulic modelling, and Environmental Impact Assessments. You will also be required to collaborate with clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders, including undertaking site visits.

Typical work will involve a wide range of projects, including Flood Modelling (fluvial, pluvial, and tidal), SuDS design, hydraulic modelling, and Environmental Impact Assessments. You will also be responsible for working with various software, including Flood Modeller Pro, ISIS - Tuflow, and WinDes.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to hold a degree in Environmental Science and a relevant master's degree. You should also be chartered with a relevant professional institution or working towards obtaining chartership.

Experience with hydraulic modelling software, hydrological assessments, and flow estimation or other flow calculation methods is essential. You should also have experience with SuDS and surface/foul water drainage design, as well as hydrological EIA.
