Job Summary

The IT Infrastructure Support Technician/Field Service Engineer is responsible for providing hands-on and remote support for various IT infrastructure components, including data center equipment, network devices, and end-user computing environments. This role demands strong technical expertise, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • IT Support and Ticket Management:
    • Update and record activities in the IT Ticket Management System.
    • Coordinate and agree on attendance time and date with key stakeholders.
    • Ensure that Ticket SLAs and KPIs are achieved.
    • Provide support through phone, remote tools, or in-person at onsite locations.
    • Perform installation and troubleshooting tasks, both through physical and network mediums.
  • Infrastructure Support:
    • Provide Hands & Feet Support for Network and Data Center Equipment/Devices.
    • Support network and server teams by assisting with rack and stack, running cables, and performing maintenance tasks such as cleaning, testing, and replacing fiber and copper cables.
    • Perform basic Windows and hardware troubleshooting, including installation and configuration of Microsoft Operating Systems (Windows 7 & 10), desktops, workstations, notebooks, printers, and handheld devices.
    • Manage, control, and monitor server infrastructure, including rebooting routers, servers, and storage devices, and performing tape management and maintenance.
  • Customer Interaction and Communication:
    • Effectively and accurately communicate relevant project information to the team and clients.
    • Possess strong customer-facing skills to communicate clearly and effectively with clients and customers.
    • Troubleshoot MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and mobile devices (Blackberry, Android, iOS).
  • Project and SLA Management:
    • Implement policies, procedures, and materials to ensure compliance with SLA/KPI management, problem escalation, RCA/CAR, and external vendor management.
    • Collaborate with team members and manage tasks independently to meet project deadlines.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Support infrastructure environments including Data Center, IP Networking, TCP/IP, Fiber Optics Networking, Access Points, routers, switches, and WiFi networks.
    • Perform hands-on tasks such as inserting/removing media, replacing defective components, configuring remote access, and supporting IMAC and PC deployments.
    • Familiar with backup and recovery software and methodologies.
Preferred Skillsets
  • Project Management:
    • Experience in task queue management, SLA/KPI management, problem escalation, and RCA/CAR.
    • External vendor management experience is an advantage.
    • Familiarity with ITIL processes and experience working within an ITIL environment is beneficial.
  • Technical:
    • Strong understanding of Data Center, Infrastructure, IP Networking, TCP/IP, Fiber Optics Networking, and WiFi network setups.
    • Experience with physical cabling, LSPM/OTDR/VFL, and handling Networking, Storage, IoT type hardware.
    • Understanding of Audio/Video equipment and conference room setups.
    • Proficiency in ITSM tools like ServiceNow.
    • Knowledge of Active Directory, Exchange Mailboxes, and Distribution lists.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Engineering/Technology/Science or equivalent work experience.
  • MCP/MCSE, CCNP, CCDP, CCNA are desirable certifications.
  • A+ Certified or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of Windows operating system environment and basic Windows troubleshooting.
