Position: SEN Teacher - Focus on ASD/SLD

Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teacher to contribute to a nurturing secondary SEN school environment. This role involves working with students who have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) on a full-time basis.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to the unique needs of students with ASD and SLD.
  • Adapt teaching methodologies and resources to support diverse learning styles, ensuring effective progress.
  • Collaborate with the school's leadership and SENCO to develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavioral management strategies.
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and fosters a sense of belonging.
  • Utilize various teaching aids, including visual supports and assistive technologies, to enhance educational experiences.
  • Regularly assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and modifying teaching strategies as necessary.
  • Work alongside teaching assistants and support staff to ensure optimal classroom management and student assistance.
  • Maintain effective communication with parents, caregivers, and external professionals to support the holistic development of students.
  • Keep detailed records of student achievements and any additional support provided, adhering to school policies.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay informed about best practices in SEN education.
