Position Overview

This exceptional role provides an opportunity for a dedicated individual to demonstrate and enhance their leadership and clinical expertise within the field of cardiology.

We are seeking a Clinical Unit Leader to become a vital part of our esteemed team in the CCU Cardiac Unit. This unit consists of 10 high-dependency beds and telemetry facilities catering to patients with a comprehensive array of cardiology conditions. We require a committed and experienced registered nurse with a compassionate and caring demeanor who will prioritize and spearhead the delivery of high-quality acute and chronic nursing care.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring that the nursing and care support teams within your department are sufficiently resourced and organized.
  • Providing support and development opportunities for the nursing and care support teams to ensure the delivery of exceptional care aligned with the Trust's values and the Nursing & Midwifery Professional Framework.
  • Leading and nurturing the nursing and support teams by being a visible and strong role model, offering leadership and direction, while leveraging research and development opportunities.
  • Monitoring and maintaining departmental standards to create a safe, clean, and organized environment, while implementing processes that maximize the time nurses spend in therapeutic contact with patients.
  • Demonstrating the ability to inspire and motivate the team, overseeing the daily management of the unit, staff, and resources to ensure the provision of outstanding patient care and the achievement of quality, safety, and performance targets.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Valid NMC Registration
  • Mentorship qualification
  • Post-registration qualifications relevant to the role
  • Diploma or Degree in Nursing
  • Evidence of education to degree level
  • Completion or willingness to undertake a leadership and development program (equivalent to the Internal Band 6 Leadership and Development program).

Desirable:

  • Level 4 ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management) or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

Essential:

  • Understanding of Clinical Governance and Safeguarding and their relevance to practice
  • Familiarity with relevant policies and procedures
  • Evidence of clinical competence in the area of specialty
  • Experience in mentorship and ability to identify learning and development needs
  • Awareness of ethical issues

Desirable:

  • Experience in managing a clinical area
  • Knowledge of the PDPR Process
  • Evidence of working at Band 7
  • Experience in budget management
