About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Coder to join our team at Ramsay Health Care UK. As a Clinical Coder, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of clinical data, which will be used to inform healthcare decisions and improve patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Code all primary and secondary diagnoses, procedures, and operations for NHS and private episodes of care to the units, using the latest coding standards and systems.
  • Assist existing clinical coders to maintain a manageable coding workload and ensure that all coding tasks are completed to the highest standard.
  • Work closely with hospital teams to influence and persuade operational practices to achieve the overall aim of improving quality of clinical information.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in coding by attending regular specialist workshops and refresher courses, and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Take responsibility for completing your own workload within agreed Ramsay site coding targets, and provide specialist coding advice to clinicians and information staff as needed.
  • Manage and maintain the effectiveness of Clinical Coding procedures and protocols within Ramsay Healthcare, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Cover for fellow colleagues as required, and undertake other duties as necessary.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of NHS Digital CCS E-Learning modules as a prerequisite to the Clinical Coding Standards course (CCSC).
  • ACC qualification or equivalent clinical coding experience.
  • Completion of clinical coding Refresher training (CCSRC) every 3 years to maintain and refresh coding knowledge and skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Commercial and financial awareness.
  • Appropriate computer skills (Microsoft Office).
  • Flexibility and adaptability.
