Key Responsibilities- Code all primary and secondary diagnoses, procedures, and operations for NHS and private episodes of care to the units, using the latest coding standards and systems.
- Assist existing clinical coders to maintain a manageable coding workload and ensure that all coding tasks are completed to the highest standard.
- Work closely with hospital teams to influence and persuade operational practices to achieve the overall aim of improving quality of clinical information.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in coding by attending regular specialist workshops and refresher courses, and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Take responsibility for completing your own workload within agreed Ramsay site coding targets, and provide specialist coding advice to clinicians and information staff as needed.
- Manage and maintain the effectiveness of Clinical Coding procedures and protocols within Ramsay Healthcare, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Cover for fellow colleagues as required, and undertake other duties as necessary.
- Successful completion of NHS Digital CCS E-Learning modules as a prerequisite to the Clinical Coding Standards course (CCSC).
- ACC qualification or equivalent clinical coding experience.
- Completion of clinical coding Refresher training (CCSRC) every 3 years to maintain and refresh coding knowledge and skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Commercial and financial awareness.
- Appropriate computer skills (Microsoft Office).
