About the Role

L'Arche Highland is seeking a highly organized and creative individual to fill the position of Workshop Manager. As the operational lead of our daytime workshops, you will be responsible for managing a team of Workshop Leaders, volunteers, and Workshop Assistants. Your primary goal will be to provide a structured employment and learning experience for individuals with learning disabilities, promoting independence, social integration, and lifelong learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead a team of Workshop Leaders, volunteers, and Workshop Assistants to deliver high-quality support and care to individuals with learning disabilities.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to promote independence, social integration, and lifelong learning among workshop participants.
  • Ensure compliance with Care Inspectorate, NHS Highland, and SSSC standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the senior leader team to develop and implement service plans that meet the needs of workshop participants.
  • Provide guidance and support to Workshop Leaders and Assistants to ensure they are equipped to deliver high-quality services.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of workshop programs and make recommendations for improvement.

Requirements

  • SVQ3 Health and Social Care qualification or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of current care and support legislation and good practice.
  • Experience working with individuals with learning disabilities in a social care or education setting.
  • Knowledge of Augmentative and Alternative Communication methods, such as Makaton, BSL, Talking Mats, and PECS.
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with experience in leading and working with teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and noise.
  • Clear disclosure on the PVG record check and ongoing SSSC registration status.

About L'Arche Highland

L'Arche Highland is a community of around 132 people, including individuals with and without learning disabilities, Support Assistants, volunteers, friends, and neighbors. We are part of a global network of communities where people with and without learning disabilities live and share in life together, working towards a world where everyone belongs. We provide supported living opportunities in one of our four shared houses or in individual homes, depending on preference and need. Our dynamic workshop serves 50 people per week, offering a structured employment and learning experience that promotes independence, social integration, and lifelong learning.
