Job Title: Programme Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Programme Manager to join the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust's established Programme Management Office (PMO). The role will focus on the delivery of digital projects within the trust and will work with subject matter experts, frontline staff, clinicians, and corporate teams to formulate and deliver a range of transformational digital projects that are ambitious and innovative, enabling the Trust and the wider system to achieve its strategic objectives in line with local and national policy.

Main Duties of the Job
  • Responsibility for project delivery and will involve identifying when agile or traditional methods are more suitable for such delivery.
  • Closely monitor and update project schedules and budgets, prepare progress reports, progress action points, control risks and issues, and liaise with key stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities
  • Follow Trust project management processes and governance arrangements, reporting to the PMO Portfolio Delivery Manager.
  • Work closely with programme assurance colleagues, your project will abide by Trust governance arrangements and will contribute to effective management of resources, risks, and issues.

Regular travel in your own vehicle may be required across the North West (subject to Agenda for Change terms and conditions) while a reduction in unnecessary journeys via the use of technology will be actively encouraged.

Requirements
  • Demonstrable experience of a senior management, programme management or change leadership role.
  • Possess an advanced professional project management qualification such as APM, PRINCE2 or MSP.
  • Highly effective analysis and interpretation skills.
  • Significant capability to understand and analyse multiple complex issues simultaneously, drawing on a breadth of knowledge, experience, understanding, and data sources to inform judgment and decision making to balance competing priorities and make difficult decisions.
  • Demonstrated capability to plan over short, medium and long-term timeframes and adjust plans and resource requirements accordingly.
  • Excellent IT skills, able to use a wide range of software packages including Word, Visio, Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Excel - produce plans / Gantt charts / spreadsheets / formulas etc.
Knowledge and Experience
  • Significant experience of change management, service improvement or practice improvement with demonstrated commitment to continuous quality improvement.
  • Knowledge of current government policies regarding change programmes within the NHS / government depts.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Leadership experience and significant line management experience.
  • In-depth working knowledge of Programme / Project management, governance and assurance, risk management and benefit management.
  • Extensive Programme Management experience in a large and complex organisation.
  • Experience of managing multi-disciplinary projects involving matrix working.
