Role Summary:We are currently seeking a dedicated paralegal to join our Claims Against Public Authorities and Inquest department. The successful candidate will engage in supervised casework while providing essential support to our team of lawyers. Responsibilities will include case preparation, conducting legal research, and attending court hearings and conferences.
A strong commitment to safeguarding civil liberties and advocating for human rights is essential. While prior experience in this specific field is advantageous, we welcome applications from all qualified candidates.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate effectively within a team while also managing individual responsibilities.
- Maintain financial oversight of casework, ensuring that billing targets are met.
- Adhere to Quality Control standards as outlined in the Office Manual, addressing any compliance issues promptly.
- Retain necessary accreditation qualifications as applicable.
- Contribute to the firm's growth by participating in marketing initiatives aligned with the Business Plan.
- Assist in addressing client complaints related to your cases.
- Draft legal documents and engage in client communication, demonstrating advocacy skills where relevant.
- Support audit inquiries as needed.
- Undertake any other reasonable tasks as assigned by management.
- A strong academic background with relevant experience in legal aid.
- Proven experience in Legal Aid and Litigation, particularly in Inquests or Claims Against Public Authorities.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
- Familiarity with the Legal Aid Agency's online CCMS system is a plus.
- Strong legal knowledge, negotiation abilities, and analytical skills.
- Proficient administrative skills, including document management and legal aid documentation.
