Role Summary:We are currently seeking a skilled paralegal to join our Claims Against Public Authorities and Inquest department. The ideal candidate will engage in supervised casework and provide support to other legal professionals within the team. Your responsibilities will include case preparation, conducting legal research, gathering evidence from clients and witnesses, and attending court hearings and conferences.
A strong commitment to safeguarding civil liberties and advocating for human rights is essential. While prior experience in this area is preferred, we welcome applications from all qualified candidates.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate effectively within a team while also managing individual responsibilities.
- Maintain financial oversight of work completed, ensuring billing targets are achieved.
- Adhere to Quality Control standards as outlined in the Office Manual, addressing any compliance issues promptly.
- Retain necessary accreditation qualifications as applicable.
- Contribute to the firm's growth by participating in marketing initiatives aligned with the Business Plan.
- Assist in addressing any complaints related to your cases.
- Draft legal documents, communicate with clients, and engage in advocacy as needed.
- Support audit inquiries when required.
- Undertake any other relevant tasks as directed by management.
- A strong academic background with relevant experience; legal aid experience is crucial.
- Proven experience in Legal Aid and Litigation, preferably within Inquests or Claims Against Public Authorities.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
- Familiarity with the Legal Aid Agency's online CCMS system is advantageous.
- Strong legal knowledge, negotiation abilities, and analytical skills.
- Proficient administrative skills, including document management and handling legal aid documentation.
