Action Against Public Authorities Legal Assistant

We are seeking a talented paralegal to join our Claims Against Public Authorities and Inquest department at Duncan Lewis Solicitors.
The successful candidate will conduct supervised casework and support other lawyers in the department. You will be involved in case preparation, conducting legal research, taking proofs of evidence from clients and witnesses, and attending court hearings and conferences.
We are looking for someone with a strong academic record and demonstrable experience relevant to this role, with a commitment to protecting individual citizens' civil liberties and a preparedness to fight hard to enforce their human rights.
Main Responsibilities:- Work cohesively within a team and take responsibility for individual work.
- Exercise financial control over work carried out, ensuring billing targets are met.
- Ensure Quality Control compliance and deal with non-compliance matters efficiently.
- Retain accreditation qualification if applicable.
- Contribute to the successful development of the firm, participating in marketing events and achieving turnover targets.
- Assist in dealing with complaints and drafting legal documents.
- Support audit enquiries and other reasonable tasks required by management.
- Strong academic record and relevant experience.
- Experience in Legal Aid and Litigation, ideally within Inquests/CAPA.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks.
- Familiarity with the Legal Aid Agency's online CCMS system.
- Legal skills, negotiation skills, and analytical skills.
- Good administration skills, including ordering documents and completing legal aid/controlled work documentation.
