Our facility is a bustling District General Hospital (DGH) catering to the healthcare needs of the Medway and Swale communities. We take pride in being the first Trust in Kent to achieve foundation trust status.

Key Responsibilities

Our pediatric nursing team is growing, led by our Head of Nursing for Children and Young People, who plays a vital role in guaranteeing that children and young people receive exceptional care across all service areas. Here, you will have continuous opportunities for learning and professional development, ensuring your skills remain current.

You will receive support from Clinical Nurse Educators, Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, and Governance Managers, alongside a collaborative multidisciplinary team and a dedicated corporate training and development unit. Our Trust is an excellent choice for individuals looking to advance their careers in a dynamic environment.

The NHS is committed to flexible working arrangements, and we strive to accommodate your needs while ensuring optimal service delivery. We offer various flexible working options; please discuss your preferences with us, and we will do our best to accommodate them.

All our permanent and fixed-term employees enjoy a range of benefits, including access to a gym, a comprehensive health and wellbeing program, an on-site nursery, and a cycle-to-work scheme.

We actively seek to attract, recruit, and retain top talent and welcome applications from underrepresented groups to support our commitment to a diverse and inclusive workforce.

All staff at Medway adhere to the Trust's and the Kent and Medway Safeguarding Board's policies regarding the protection of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.

Job Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing patient care needs, planning care programs, and implementing and evaluating these programs with minimal supervision. Occasionally, you will oversee the ward and supervise junior staff members.

You will play a crucial role in enhancing practices within the ward, working independently and autonomously, and being accountable for your professional conduct while promoting dignity and human rights through person-centered care principles.

You will ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based nursing assessments, care planning, implementation, interventions, and evaluations for patients from admission to discharge.

You will apply your knowledge across various procedures and practices, supported by theoretical knowledge and practical experience.

You will advocate for patients, ensuring a patient-centered approach to care delivery and compliance with NHS standards and relevant guidelines.
