Position: Category Manager

We are seeking a dedicated Category Manager to oversee a full-time role focused on procurement strategies.

About Foodbuy:
Foodbuy is a premier food procurement organization in the UK, managing over £2 billion in spend. We collaborate with a diverse array of foodservice and hospitality clients to streamline their food purchasing processes, ensuring they can concentrate on their core business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the comprehensive procurement process for your designated category.
  • Formulate and implement procurement strategies for Beers, Wines, and Spirits, aiming to identify value opportunities and drive commercial benefits.
  • Manage a diverse range of brands and client needs essential for Foodbuy's growth.
  • Enhance procurement practices and improve stakeholder engagement while balancing value, innovation, quality, service, and cost savings.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Oversee procurement initiatives across all Compass and Foodbuy Group projects.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to define strategies for new contracts, focusing on optimal commercial value.
  • Understand your impact on overall savings and category performance.
  • Support the RFX sourcing framework, driving competition through effective tenders and negotiations.
  • Foster positive relationships with stakeholders to implement category procurement strategies effectively.
  • Work with brand Commercial Directors and clients to execute transformation projects.
  • Support sustainability and innovation objectives for clients.
  • Contribute to the development of category plans through innovative and collaborative partnerships.
  • Minimize costs through improved processes and tools.
  • Track and report on savings targets consistently.
  • Communicate the value of procurement to the business.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Strong management and listening skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and influence decision-making.
  • Proven decision-making skills with a strong commercial mindset.
  • Experience in cost reduction in challenging market conditions.
  • Ability to work across different functions.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Analytical and methodical approach.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a strategic perspective.
  • Team-oriented with a keen interest in sustainability.
  • Customer-focused, staying informed about market trends.

  • Experience in the alcohol industry and procurement.
  • Strong negotiation skills with experience in sourcing events.
  • Understanding of the alcohol industry and vendor brand dynamics.
  • Strategic thinker with a broad perspective.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategies and lead large-scale projects.
  • Technical proficiency in procurement systems.
