We are seeking dedicated Residential Support Workers to join our team on a flexible, casual basis, allowing you to choose the hours you can commit to without any contractual obligations.
The well-being of our young people is the foremost priority in the role of a Support Worker. As a daily caregiver, you will play a crucial role in their safety and development, fostering connections between Polaris Community and the local community, and promoting social inclusion for those facing emotional and behavioral challenges.
Main Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the team to encourage and support the young individuals in our care, facilitating their positive development in a safe and nurturing environment.
- Provide emotional and social support to help young people build meaningful relationships with peers and adults, while promoting their involvement in local communities.
- Encourage and uplift each young person's self-esteem, ensuring they feel respected and valued.
- Support young individuals in making positive life choices and achieving levels of independence that enable them to reach their full potential.
- Maintain accurate records of events and observations, including daily and monthly progress reports, updates to care files, and health and safety checks.
- Continuously assess the needs of the children and young people, contributing to the formulation, implementation, and review of their care plans under the guidance of your manager.
- Work closely with your manager, team members, health advisors, social workers, therapists, teachers, and other professionals, and engage with the young people's families when necessary.
- Assist young individuals with their daily living needs in accordance with their individual care plans.
- Perform domestic duties within the home, involving the children and young people where appropriate, including meal planning, shopping, and preparation to ensure a balanced diet.
Required Attributes:
- Ability to engage positively and proactively with young people.
- Self-motivated with a positive outlook.
- Sensitive and reflective in approach.
- Strong listening and empathetic skills.
- Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in the care sector or residential care is preferred.
- Possession of a relevant qualification or commitment to pursue a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare.
- Willingness to work on Bank Holidays as needed.
