About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team at Polaris Community, working with young people in our residential care setting. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and nurturing environment, promoting positive development, and supporting the young people in our care.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide Emotional and Social Support: Offer emotional and social support to the young people, helping them develop meaningful relationships with others and encouraging them to become involved in their local communities.
  • Encourage Independence: Support the young people in making positive life choices and achieving levels of independence that help them reach their full potential.
  • Record and Monitor Progress: Maintain accurate records of the young people's daily and monthly progress, updating their files and child protection records as necessary.
  • Collaborate with Professionals: Work closely with our manager, health advisor, social workers, therapists, teachers, and other professionals to ensure the young people receive the best possible care.
  • Support Daily Living Needs: Assist the young people with their daily living needs, including meal preparation and domestic duties, in line with their individual care plans.

  • Self-Motivation: Be self-motivated with a positive nature.
  • Sensitivity and Reflection: Be sensitive and reflective in your approach.
  • Listening and Empathy: Have the ability to listen and empathize with the young people.
  • Teamwork: Be able to work individually and within a team.
  • Care Sector Experience: Have experience working in the care sector or residential care.
  • Qualification: Hold a relevant qualification or be committed to undertaking a Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare.
