Our mission is to deliver exceptional care within high-quality environments, focusing on providing young individuals aged 11 to 18 with a supportive and family-like atmosphere. We are currently seeking dedicated Residential Support Workers to join our team on a flexible, casual basis, allowing you to choose the hours you can commit to without any contractual obligations.
The well-being of our young residents is of utmost importance in the role of a Support Worker. You will not only ensure their safety but also play a crucial role in their care, learning, and personal development. As a key member of our team, you will foster connections between Polaris Community and the local community, promoting social inclusion for young people facing emotional and behavioral challenges.
Main Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the team to support young individuals in leading a life of positive growth by providing a safe and nurturing environment.
- Offer emotional and social support to help young people build meaningful relationships with peers and adults, encouraging their involvement in local communities.
- Empower each young person to enhance their self-esteem and ensure they feel respected and valued.
- Support young individuals in making positive life choices and achieving levels of independence that facilitate their development and ensure they receive essential care.
- Maintain accurate records of events and observations, including daily and monthly progress, updates to children's files, child protection records, and health and safety checks.
- Continuously assess the needs of children and young people, and under the guidance of your manager, contribute to the formulation, implementation, and review of care plans.
- Work closely with your manager, team members, health advisors, social workers, therapists, teachers, and other professionals, and engage with young people's families when necessary.
- Assist young individuals with their daily living needs in accordance with their individual care plans.
- Perform domestic duties within the home, involving young people when appropriate, and plan, shop, and prepare meals to ensure a balanced diet.
Required Attributes:
- Ability to engage positively and proactively with young individuals.
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude.
- Sensitive and reflective in approach.
- Strong listening and empathetic skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in the care sector or residential care is preferred.
- Possess a relevant qualification or be committed to pursuing a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare.
- Willingness to work on Bank Holidays as needed.
