Job Overview

Wood is seeking expressions of interest for a Senior Financial Accountant position. This role is pivotal in ensuring precise financial reporting, reconciliation, and oversight of essential financial data to facilitate business performance monitoring, enhancement initiatives, cash collection, and governance across various client contracts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee month-end closing processes within the Oracle system, ensuring accurate reporting and analysis for selected contracts, including the calculation of accruals and compliance with corporate deadlines and accounting standards.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts detailing P&L to Gross Margin, encompassing reimbursable labor, procurement, and other contract-specific financial elements.
  • Deliver clear variance analysis of actual results against budget/forecast to assist contract management in understanding financial outcomes.
  • Manage balance sheet items such as unbilled and unearned revenues, ensuring accurate reporting and timely improvement actions.
  • Analyze Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) and support initiatives for improvement.
  • Provide necessary financial information for Project Governance Reporting and other business requirements.
  • Present monthly financial results to the Contract Manager and Finance Business Partner.
  • Conduct control checks on invoices produced by the billing team and guide them on any complex invoicing requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of annual budgets, mid-year forecasts, and monthly rolling forecasts in collaboration with Contract and Delivery Managers.
  • Maintain a schedule of risks and opportunities to support the latest forecasts.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts and actively monitor payments, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Review labor and non-labor reconciliations monthly to ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and share best practices within the finance function.
  • Engage with external, internal, and client auditors to ensure compliance.
  • Adhere to all company policies regarding accounting, credit risk, and conduct.
  • Execute various ad hoc tasks as requested by Finance leadership.
Qualifications
  • Recognized accounting qualification or part-qualified with active studies towards a professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA) will also consider those qualified by experience.
Knowledge & Experience
  • Relevant accounting experience.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of contract financials.
  • Competent in using ERP and forecasting systems.
