Job Overview

Wood is seeking applications for a Senior Financial Accountant role. This position is focused on ensuring precise financial reporting, reconciliation, and analysis of critical financial data to facilitate business performance monitoring and improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee month-end closing processes within the Oracle system, ensuring accurate reporting and analysis for assigned contracts, including the calculation of necessary accruals and compliance with corporate deadlines and accounting standards.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, detailing P&L to Gross Margin levels, including various cost components and contract-specific items.
  • Deliver clear variance analysis of actual results against budget/forecast to support contract management in understanding financial outcomes.
  • Manage balance sheet accounts, including unbilled, unearned, and accounts receivable, ensuring accurate reporting and timely improvement actions.
  • Analyze Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) and provide support for improvement initiatives.
  • Supply financial information as required by the business, including governance reporting and other necessary metrics.
  • Present monthly financial results to relevant stakeholders.
  • Conduct control checks on invoices and provide guidance on non-standard invoicing requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of annual budgets, mid-year forecasts, and rolling forecasts in collaboration with contract and delivery teams.
  • Maintain a schedule of risks and opportunities to support the latest forecasts.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts and actively monitor payments, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Review labor and non-labor reconciliations monthly to ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Challenge aged unbilled reports and assist in resolving any discrepancies.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and share best practices.
  • Engage with external and internal auditors as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to all company policies, including those related to accounting and conduct.
  • Execute various ad hoc tasks as requested by finance leadership.
Qualifications
  • Recognized accounting qualification or equivalent experience, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
Knowledge & Experience
  • Relevant experience in accounting.
  • Proficient in Excel and familiar with ERP/forecasting systems.
  • Strong understanding of commercial aspects of contracts to maximize cash flow.
