About the Role

Mace is a leading global consultancy and construction company that delivers transformative impact to our people, communities, and societies across the globe. We are seeking an experienced Estimating Assistant Manager to join our team in a key role that will support the estimating team in the creation of estimates and ensure that the estimate is completed in line with procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administrative and Technical Management: Responsible for the administrative and technical management of a construction project, including the ability to prepare successful estimates.
  • Estimate Analysis and Support: Supports the analysis of material and subcontract to the estimating Lead on an estimate.
  • Benchmarking and Data Management: Supports the requirement for maintaining detailed benchmarking data.
  • Administrative Tasks: Assists in administrative tasks for estimators and pre-construction team members.
  • Estimate Preparation: Supports the team with the preparation of estimates.
  • Quantity Take-Off and Data Input: Uses digital measurement tools for quantity take-off in a manner and level of detail consistent with the project goals, and inputs estimate data into appropriate software.
  • Feasibility Studies: Assists with feasibility studies.
  • Carbon Emissions Management: Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
Requirements
  • Estimating Software Knowledge: Working knowledge of estimating software.
  • IT Systems and Excel: Ability to use IT systems, including a good knowledge of Excel.
  • Numerical Skills: Strong numerical skills.
  • Measurement Software: Experience of measurement software or PDF-based measurement software.
  • PowerPoint and Presentational Skills: Working knowledge of PowerPoint and good presentational skills.
  • Value Engineering and Cost Planning: Some knowledge of value engineering and cost planning, budgeting, and estimating experience.
  • Construction and Market Knowledge: Good construction and market knowledge.
  • Industry Best Practice: Good understanding of industry best practice.

  • Teamwork and Communication: Works proactively within teams, coordinates with functional peers, and develops and maintains a series of internal and external stakeholder/colleague relationships.
  • Independence and Adaptability: Ability to work independently and to tight timescales to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) and strategic outcomes, and adapts and responds to change and/or organisational requirements.
  • Education and Professional Development: Working towards relevant degree (or equivalent) and working towards chartered status, and a degree in quantity/surveying/cost management (or equivalent).
