Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join ISG as an Estimating Apprentice and play a key role in the preparation and completion of accurate tender offers. As an Estimating Apprentice, you will work closely with the Estimating Director, Managing Estimator, and the estimating team to ensure smooth running of the systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish a close relationship with the Estimating Director, Managing Estimator, and the estimating team to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Comply with Estimating Best Practice processes and procedures.
  • Assist with the preparation and scoping of tender packages, including warm-up and progression chasing to ensure a suitable number of tenderers return quality tenders.
  • Prepare detailed bills of quantities to allow tenderers to price works accurately.
  • Compile tender comparisons to ensure only complete subcontract bids are considered.
  • Schedule clarifications, qualifications, and exclusions to ensure they are considered.
  • Assist with the preparation of risk and opportunities schedules for every tender.
  • Assist with the handover of tenders that are won to the project team and maintain contact to ensure all knowledge is successfully transferred.
  • Work with the supply chain to ensure they continue to provide competitive tenders and ensure delivery teams are aware of those subcontractors that have contributed.
  • As directed, provide 'agreed' feedback to the supply chain.
  • Contribute to the database of tenders for historical data and average rates.
  • Assist with providing cost planning and other cost advice both internally and to consultants if required.

  • Developing knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook desired.

Apprenticeship Programme

Our five-year apprenticeship programme provides exposure to all aspects of Estimating. In all these areas, you can look forward to a balance of hands-on experiences and academic learning.

  • The programme will see you developing knowledge of construction industry processes, skills for accurate measurement and billing of tender information, the ability to identify and evaluate risks, planning and process management skills, and building out knowledge of different procurement routes, including design and build.
  • We'll sponsor you to complete a relevant degree, and you'll have access to ongoing training and development to help reach your career ambitions.
