About the Role

The University Access Officer - Education Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting students from under-resourced backgrounds to access top universities. This position requires a strong understanding of education systems and a passion for creating a fairer society.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work directly with students in a professional and safe manner to ensure their academic success.
  • Engage with school staff at all levels to optimize the delivery of the programme.
  • Match students with volunteer tutors and monitor their progress towards making successful university applications.
  • Assess student attendance and devise innovative solutions to encourage attendance.
  • Upload information onto the Salesforce database and monitor the impact of tutorials.
  • Build and manage relationships with volunteer tutors to ensure they have a positive experience of the programme.
  • Manage tutor attendance to tutorials through weekly monitoring systems.
  • Work with school staff to ensure their cooperation and timely completion of activities contributing to the smooth running of the programme.
  • Chair and present at termly school meetings with Senior Management to report on programme progress.
  • Support the volunteering team by helping to deliver tutor training sessions and attending university site visits.

Training and Development

The University Access Officer - Education Specialist will receive regular monthly training to develop their skills and succeed in the role. They will also have access to guidance from more senior University Access Officers and the wider University Access Officer team across The Access Project.
