About the Role

The Global Benefits Risk and Compliance team at Amazon is seeking a highly skilled Senior Benefits Risk Manager to join our team. As a Senior Benefits Risk Manager, you will play a critical role in managing global risk activities, including identifying, assessing, controlling, and monitoring important benefits-related risks in countries where we do business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consult with Global Policy and Process Owners: Collaborate with global policy and process owners to ensure that sound protocols are in place to mitigate the risks inherent in employee benefits programs and activities.
  • Risk Identification and Assessment: Identify, assess, and monitor known and emerging risks; measure internal control effectiveness; and develop and own action items to remediate identified risk issues.
  • Benefits Program Knowledge: Develop deep knowledge of Amazon employee benefits programs and operations and provide consult to benefits stakeholders to ensure compliance with local legislation and adapt global benefits programs and strategies to local markets, rules, regulations, and cultural nuances/sensitivities to mitigate any potential risks.
  • Solution Development: Develop deep knowledge of the employee benefits solution(s) utilized by Amazon and consult on the development of business requirements for new system implementations and enhancements.
  • Reporting and Communication: Draft written narratives to communicate obligations, risk analyses, and recommendations to policy, process, and system owners and senior stakeholders.
  • Compliance Obligations: Inventory compliance obligations and their related risks in a governance, risk, and compliance system framework.
  • Risk Assessments: Conduct on-site and virtual risk and control assessments, determine state of compliance, analyze overall risk exposure, draft reports detailing methodology, results, and remediation plans.
  • Supporting Documentation: Consult on supporting documentation, such as manager and employee communications, FAQs, policy positions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Risk Inquiries: Respond to risk and compliance inquiries, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Travel: Able to travel 20%, as necessary.
About the Team

The Global Benefits Risk and Compliance team is made up of attorneys, risk specialists, data security specialists, automation experts, and privacy specialists with global HR and benefits backgrounds. We provide our benefits stakeholders guidance to help them identify and manage potential risks and improve their team's risk management strategies and compliance posture.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
  • Experience in Benefits, Compliance, or Risk Management: Experience in a benefits, compliance, or risk management role.
  • Employee Benefits Administration: Experience with employee benefits administration.
  • Master's Degree or Equivalent: Master's degree or equivalent in a related field.
  • Risk or Audit Certification: Risk or audit certification.
  • Benefits Management: Experience in benefits management, preferably in a multinational organization or consulting firm.
  • Regional Compliance Requirements: In-depth knowledge of employee benefits programs, regulations, and best practices in the EMEA region.
  • Complex Legal Frameworks: Strong understanding of regional compliance requirements and ability to navigate complex legal frameworks.
  • Global Environment: Experience working in a global, large-scale, complex, and fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to manage ambiguity and drive results.
  • Cross-Functional Partnerships: Experience building cross-functional partnerships and influencing stakeholders across the organization to act without having a direct reporting relationship.
  • Analytical Capabilities: Proven analytical capabilities.
  • Data Management: Experience with large amounts of data and in developing audit reports, metrics, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Risk Management: Experience managing risk and performing risk management activities.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
