About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Risk and Quality Director to join our team at CLA Global. As a senior leader, you will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of our Risk and Quality strategy, working closely with our Global Office and member firms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Quality Monitoring
    • Review and enhance our ongoing quality monitoring programme, working with our Risk and Quality Committee to identify areas for improvement.
    • Take responsibility for the delivery of the ongoing monitoring programme, ensuring that our member firms meet and maintain high quality management standards.
    • Agree and monitor action plans prepared by member firms in response to reviews, ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to address any issues identified.
  • New Firm Admittance Due Diligence
    • Review and align our existing due diligence process with our ongoing monitoring programme, ensuring that it is robust and effective.
    • Manage the due diligence process for applicant member firms, liaising closely with our Global Office and due diligence reviewers.
    • Undertake some due diligence reviews for applicant member firms, ensuring that all necessary checks are completed.
  • Independence and Conflict Checking
    • Work with our Risk and Quality Committee to review and enhance our approach and policies relating to independence and conflict checking.
    • Manage the ongoing process for maintaining independence and checking for conflicts, ensuring that our member firms are compliant with all relevant standards.
  • Knowledge Sharing
    • Collate and share best practice and thought leadership from member firms in relation to audit, ethical, accounting, and quality matters.
    • Organise events (virtual, hybrid, and in-person) to share knowledge and best practice, ensuring that all member firms have access to the latest information and expertise.
    • Design, implement, and manage a technical service desk for smaller members to benefit from the advice of larger members.
  • External Facing
    • Manage our network's entry into the Forum of Firms, attending relevant meetings on behalf of CLA Global.
    • Collate responses from member firms in relation to technical consultations from standard setters and respond on behalf of CLA Global.
  • Risk and Quality Committee
    • Act as secretary to the Risk and Quality Committee, ensuring that all necessary minutes and reports are prepared and distributed.
    • Work with the Chair of the Committee to set agendas, create action plans, and prepare reports to the International Board of Directors.
  • Audit Development
    • Work with our 'Technology and Innovation' and 'Business Development and Markets' Committees to develop the audit service line to target international assignments.

Requirements
  • Qualifications
    • ACA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience
    • Strong working knowledge of International Standards on Auditing, ISQM, IFRS, and the IESBA Code of Ethics.
    • Experience of leading quality reviews, ideally in an international environment.
    • Experience of managing risk, both identifying potential issues and developing appropriate responses.
    • Experience of managing relationships with key stakeholders in an organisation.
    • Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
    • Ability to work unsupervised and take a proactive approach to the role.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required, including presentation skills.
    • Ability to design and deliver presentations, including technical training.
    • Proficient English language skills.
