Job Title: Senior General Manager

Fowler Welch, a leading provider of time-critical logistics solutions, is seeking an experienced Senior General Manager to join our team in Spalding. As a key member of our senior management team, you will play a crucial role in driving business growth and delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Operations Director in developing and delivering business and strategic plans for the Spalding site.
  • Oversee the management and achievement of operational, customer, and people-related KPIs.
  • Coach and develop reporting managers in people management activities and oversee the implementation of people training and development plans.
  • Work closely with the Transport and Warehouse Managers to ensure communication, best practice, and efficiency are continually reviewed and improved.
  • Engage in customer liaison and identify business opportunities with existing and new customers.
  • Review and authorise operational POs, ensuring compliance with company financial rules.
  • Oversee the control of the operation, ensuring all matters are owned and resolved efficiently and in line with legal requirements.
  • Devise and manage a continuous improvement policy, ensuring the transport fleet and assets are operated in a commercially viable way.
  • Enforce the highest standards of safety and hygiene, ensuring Company procedures are followed.
Requirements:
  • An established Senior Manager with strong commercial business acumen.
  • Significant experience of operational management in the FMCG industry.
  • Experience of a multi-modal fleet, including temperature-controlled operations.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of the commercial marketplace and rate calculation methods.
  • Account management and warehouse management skills.
