Multi-Site Technician

Salary: £39,127.41

Location: Various locations

This position plays a crucial role in performing both scheduled and urgent maintenance across multiple sites within a designated area.

Job Overview:

The primary responsibility is to execute planned and responsive maintenance and repairs on a variety of electrical, mechanical, and structural assets in retail environments, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness while adhering to the company's health and safety protocols.

Typical tasks may include servicing bakery and catering equipment, mechanical and electrical systems, lighting installations, building structures, water systems, and both stationary and portable electrical devices. General maintenance and initial assessments are required for HVAC, fire safety, security systems, and various electrical and general issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent the organization professionally and foster positive relationships with colleagues.
  • Complete all necessary Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks and ensure accurate logging of remedial actions to maintain legal compliance.
  • Supervise and mentor the Maintenance Assistant, providing guidance to ensure adherence to company procedures.
  • Respond promptly to service requests from the Helpdesk, assessing job requirements and executing repairs as needed.
  • Prioritize maintenance tasks to meet agreed timelines and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Communicate effectively with store management regarding any maintenance issues that may disrupt operations.
  • Conduct surveys and prepare reports as necessary.
  • Perform alterations and installations within your area of expertise, following current specifications.
  • Assist fellow technicians in other locations when required.
  • Participate in the recruitment of qualified Maintenance Assistants to ensure consistent service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records and manage time effectively.
  • Engage in training opportunities to enhance personal skills and stay updated with technical advancements.
  • Adhere to the company's health and safety policies at all times.
  • Ensure compliance documentation for relevant tasks is completed to the required standards.
  • Facilitate mandatory training for team members, ensuring they are competent in their roles.
  • Provide on-the-job coaching to support team performance.
  • Participate in an on-call standby rotation and handle general repairs during out-of-hours service.
  • Conduct initial assessments for equipment issues related to fire safety, HVAC, and electrical systems.
  • Comply with any reasonable requests from management.

  • Oversee the recruitment and management of Maintenance Assistants.
  • Manage holiday and absence records.

Qualifications and Skills:

Professional Qualifications:

Essential:

  • City & Guilds 17th Edition
  • Level 3 Electrical qualification (e.g., C&G 2330, C&G 2365)

Desirable:

  • Experience with electrical certification
  • City & Guilds 2391 Testing and Inspection
  • Relevant industry experience in a similar role.
