Job Overview:

This pivotal role involves executing both scheduled and urgent maintenance tasks across multiple locations within a designated area.

The technician will be responsible for performing planned and reactive maintenance and repairs on a variety of electrical, mechanical, and structural assets in retail environments, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness while adhering to the company's Health and Safety protocols.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, maintenance of bakery and catering equipment, mechanical and electrical systems, lighting installations, building infrastructure, water services, and both static and portable electrical devices. Initial assessments for HVAC, Fire Safety, Security, and general electrical issues will also be required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a professional representation of the company and foster positive relationships with colleagues.
  • Complete all necessary Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks and ensure accurate logging of remedial actions for legal compliance.
  • Supervise and mentor the Maintenance Assistant, providing ongoing support and training.
  • Respond promptly to service requests from the Helpdesk, assessing job requirements and executing repairs as needed.
  • Prioritize maintenance tasks to meet agreed timelines and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Communicate effectively with store management regarding any maintenance issues that may disrupt operations.
  • Conduct surveys and prepare reports as necessary.
  • Perform alterations and installations within your technical expertise, adhering to current specifications.
  • Execute general repairs and maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Assist fellow technicians in other locations when required.
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of qualified Maintenance Assistants to ensure consistent service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records and manage time effectively using company applications.
  • Attend training sessions to stay updated with technical advancements, which may include overnight stays.
  • Adhere to the company's Health and Safety Policy at all times.
  • Ensure compliance documentation for allocated tasks meets quality standards.
  • Ensure team members complete all mandatory training within required timelines.
  • Provide on-the-job coaching to ensure team performance meets standards.
  • Deliver technical training to promote engagement and support learning.
  • Manage induction and training documentation, including performance reviews.
  • Participate in an Out of Hours standby rota and handle general plumbing and drainage repairs during these periods.
  • Conduct initial assessments for equipment issues related to Fire Safety, HVAC, and electrical systems.
  • Comply with any reasonable requests from management.

  • Oversee the recruitment and management of Maintenance Assistants.
  • Update personnel records, managing holidays and absences.

Professional Qualifications:

Essential:

  • City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical qualification.

Desirable:

  • Experience with electrical certification.
  • City & Guilds 2391 Testing and Inspection.
  • Relevant industry experience in a similar role.

Specific Knowledge:

  • Understanding of 3-phase electrical systems and their applications.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours.
