Job Title: Senior Mental Health Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our team at Wakefield Council. As a key member of our Substance Use Treatment Service, you will play a vital role in providing support to individuals with dual diagnosis needs.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with our Principal Practitioner Psychologist to develop and deliver bespoke support and care packages for individuals with complex needs. You will work collaboratively with mental health services within the district to ensure that disadvantaged service users have access to the necessary support for their well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver support and care packages for individuals with dual diagnosis needs
  • Work closely with the Principal Practitioner Psychologist to provide bespoke support and interventions
  • Liaise with mental health services within the district to ensure access to necessary support
  • Hold a small caseload of clients and provide low-level interventions and signposting
  • Attend monthly complex case meetings to review clients' mental health needs
  • Assess and manage risks related to mental health difficulties and substance consumption
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Doctorate in Clinical, Counselling or Forensic Psychology or RMN or CQSW/DipSW or Occupational Therapist
  • Experience of working with individuals with dual diagnosis needs
  • Knowledge of recovery models and approaches
  • Ability to assess and manage risks related to mental health difficulties and substance consumption
  • Experience of line managing staff
