This role presents a remarkable opportunity to take charge as the Registered Manager for one of our CQC-rated "Outstanding" facilities in Bedford.

Are you a seasoned Registered Manager with experience overseeing multiple locations, seeking a fresh and stimulating challenge? You will manage some of Glenholme's most successful establishments while having the opportunity to grow alongside us as we expand with new service openings.

As the Registered Manager, your responsibilities will include supervising the daily operations of two Supported Living services in Bedford - Warwick Manor and Shakespeare House, both conveniently located near each other. The clientele consists of individuals with learning disabilities, autism, mental health challenges, physical disabilities, and complex needs.

Warwick Manor is a spacious, beautifully restored period property, fully refurbished in 2018. Each resident enjoys their own well-appointed studio or one-bedroom apartment, promoting greater independence and the development of life skills. The service also provides access to generous gardens and a welcoming communal flat where residents can socialize or receive additional support around the clock.

Shakespeare House is a fully refurbished detached home completed in 2020, featuring five spacious rooms. This home is specifically designed to cater to individuals with learning disabilities, offering a warm communal lounge, an extended kitchen, ensuite bathrooms, and expansive gardens, along with sensory and relaxation activity rooms. Shakespeare House is tailored for those looking to navigate the care pathway towards greater independence, delivering an intensive supported living care model to ensure residents receive high-quality care while enjoying the independence of a supported living arrangement.

Both services are situated in a tranquil residential area of Bedford, close to various shops, cafes, restaurants, entertainment venues, and community activities, including swimming and numerous parks. Convenient transport links are available, ensuring service users can establish positive connections with the local and broader Bedford community.

Key Responsibilities: As a Registered Manager, you will report to the Regional Operations Manager and be accountable for:

  • Operational management of the home
  • Development, supervision, and performance management of staff
  • Responding to referrals and conducting initial assessments of needs
  • Creating support plans with clear goals and expected outcomes for service users
  • Coordinating person-centered reviews
  • Collaborating closely with local multi-disciplinary teams and community-based agencies
  • Maintaining high standards of environmental safety and quality
  • Fostering a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere
  • Encouraging service user engagement, involvement, and peer support
  • Staying updated with legislation and ensuring staff are appropriately trained for their roles

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience as a learning disabilities practitioner, ideally with Positive Behaviour Support training
  • A proven management background
  • A caring and professional ethos
  • Willingness to register with the CQC and ensure compliance with regulations
  • A minimum of three years' experience working with individuals with learning disabilities
  • A relevant care qualification (such as RMN/Dip SW, degree, or NVQ Level 4/5)
  • Ability to collaborate professionally with service users, families, professionals, and colleagues
  • Experience in supervising and supporting staff
  • Knowledge and skills for safe management and administration of medication
