Commerzbank AG is seeking a seasoned professional to fill the role of Engineering and Hard Services Manager. This position is responsible for the operational management of hard facilities management services to the London Branch.

Main Purpose of the Role

As the Engineering and Hard Services Manager, you will be responsible for the following key areas:

  • Develop and manage long-term strategies for engineering maintenance and infrastructural modernization, focusing on resilience, risk management, efficiency, performance, and cost control.
  • Deliver the operation of all hard services managed service contracts and specialist suppliers to ensure the operation of the bank's built environment and critical engineering systems. Monitor contractual KPIs.
  • Ensure the bank meets current and future legislation and statutory requirements on all building management systems, including carbon reduction.
  • Direct, evaluate, and approve the M&E designs provided by consultants and architects to ensure they meet the requirements of the bank.
  • Conduct regular meetings with Managed Service Providers and Data Centres stakeholders.
  • Maintain security concept documentation, contractor and tenant handbooks, utility metering reporting, CSR reporting, and other ad-hoc reporting as required.
  • Attend and manage any critical or major infrastructure failures, power downs, witness testing, or supervising business-critical shutdowns as required and act in the capacity of an Emergency Officer in line with the company's Business Continuity Planning guidelines and policies.
  • Assist with the coordination, development, and testing of disaster recovery plans.
  • Conduct and regularly review fire risk assessments for the bank.
  • Advise on passive fire protection requirements in line with current regulations for the bank.

Key Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Professional qualification in Mechanical & Electrical Engineering.
  • Vocational experience in Hard FM Services (preferred), engineering, building maintenance, energy management, or vendor management.
  • Detailed knowledge of Health & Safety (IOSH).
  • Strong understanding of facilities and operational procurement disciplines.
  • Ability to manage employees, including outsourced functions, both on- and off-site.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • Strategic insight, planning, problem-solving, and project management capabilities.
  • Proven experience in operational risk management, financial management, and control.
