About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our team at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality occupational therapy services to adults with mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide occupational therapy input to a defined caseload, including care coordination, for older adult patients with mental health needs.
  • Deliver individual assessments and formulations, and specific treatments that are client-centered and support timely discharge.
  • Support patients' independence and wellbeing, and maintain occupation at the center of practice.
  • Provide active clinical and managerial leadership skills within the team, including mentoring, education, and supervision of non-registered staff and students.
  • Contribute to the development, provision, and evaluation of programs of learning and development for other professionals.
Person Specification

Essential Qualifications:

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • HCPC registered.

Essential Knowledge:

  • Knowledge and understanding of OT Professional Code of Conduct and OT core skills, and their application in practice.
  • Knowledge and understanding of current legislation, including mental health and mental capacity act, and understanding of clinical risk assessment.

Desirable Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of local and national priorities.

Essential Skills:

  • Assessment and OT process skills.
  • Effective risk management.
  • Skilled in motivating others.
  • Team working.
  • Ability to work to meet the needs of the service.
  • Willingness to work as an active part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience of service improvement/audit.
  • Flexible.
  • Able to work independently, knows own limits.
  • Good written, verbal, and IT skills with patients, carers, and other professionals.
  • Ability to undertake specialist OT assessments and assess complex risks with people with mental health conditions and cognitive impairment.
  • Effective time management and organisational skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Positive attitude to working with adults with mental health conditions.

Desirable Skills:

  • A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use.
  • A high level of emotional intelligence.
  • Clinical supervision skills.
  • Ability to undertake initial mental health assessments and experience of care coordination.

Essential Experience:

  • Recent experience of working with adults with mental health conditions.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience of working in a community, inpatient, or primary care team.
  • Experience of supervising and leading staff.
  • Experience of service improvement/audit.
