About the Role:

The Stephen James Partnership is seeking a highly skilled Senior Counsel, Regulatory Law to join our legal team. As a senior competition counsel and competition lawyer, you will play a key role in supporting our Group's legal team on a range of competition and regulatory matters across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on legal and strategic projects, providing UK and EU competition and regulatory law advice to stakeholders across the business.
  • Engage with and act as a trusted legal adviser and business partner to senior stakeholders, including the CEO.
  • Identify and develop ways competition and regulatory law can be used to drive strategic business objectives.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, including customers, regulatory bodies, and competition authorities, on competition and regulatory law matters.
  • Lead teams in providing legal advice on contentious competition and regulatory matters to achieve the best business outcomes.
  • Manage and deliver against budget for competition and regulatory law cases, including litigation before the Courts.
  • Initiate training and develop best practice documents on competition law.
  • Manage cross-functional projects, supervise junior team members, drive performance improvements, and coordinate with the Commitments Assurance Office to ensure governance adherence.

Requirements:

  • Experience working on competition and regulatory matters.
  • Experience in supporting on advisory and contentious competition/regulatory matters.
  • Previous direct or indirect supervision of junior members (ideal).
  • Happy to consider candidates with experience supporting competition matters from a regulator or already within an in-house legal team.
